I was on vacation with my family, visiting my mom in Vancouver. She told me about her upcoming appointment with her respiratory specialist. I decided to stay and accompany her to her doctor's visit. At her appointment, we found out the devastating news that she was diagnosed with late stage lung cancer.
After the appointment, I decided to move to Vancouver temporarily to take care of mom. From the time of her diagnosis to her passing away, it was approximately three months. That was a very intense three months, and some days were possibly that worst days of my life. But I have learned a great deal about how to care for my mom, and about myself. I made many mistakes while doing some things right. One thing I am certain, I was not alone. I know there are others like me, who might be sitting in the hospital waiting area right now, waiting for their loved one to finish chemo, or radiation or surgery. I want to let you know that there are others like you, who have traveled this journey, and survived.
I hope my story can help you in some ways. And I also hope that by sharing how my faith has sustained me, it may also help you out.
